shops
Wilkinson's
What ever you need at a decent price these guys normally have it, good value for money shopping and their own products are of a reasonable standard, the electrical and tool section being my favourite isles to hang around.
The Works
Can't walk past one of these shops without going in and spending, I love books and they are very cheap here, they also have a good selection of artist materiels available, dont think this shop just offers cheap alternatives most of the products are brand names and great value.
Jeff Banks (Hatfield)
What a great shop for suites ties and shirts, had to get my self kitted up for a wedding in 2 weeks, (just for the record there is nothing wrong with my 25 year old one in my wardrobe (in my opinion)) so the shop assistant was very helpful and not pushy, and he new exactly what I needed, nothing trendy just very smart and classy, great designs by Mr Banks, left with a large hole in my wallet but worth every penny.
Amazon
I do like a bit of online retail therapy, and Amazon is the place I normally visit, I spend quite a lot of money with them, Books, Electrical items, Photo and Astronomy items to name just a few, so I do like a free delivery, now they are increasing the amount you have to spend before you qualify for the free delivery.
SO now if I want just 1 book I have to pay for it to be delivered, which means any saving I make on the book is lost as I can usually buy it from a shop at the same price.
COME ON Amazon, what the F**K, no more books under £20 from you, I can get a better deal from the Book Depository.
FLO
So, I do like my Astronomy, and I have been looking for some bits for my scopes, I go on line and find a company called FLO (First Light Optics) I have questions so I phone them and the guy at the other end is very knowledgeable and very helpful answering all my question, so I order some items because they are a good price and they offer a quick delivery service (patience is a virtue I do not have). The next morning my items arrive and they are exactly as advertised. Thank you FLO for your great service.
The Brampton Pie Shop (Huntingdon)
NOM, Nom Nom Nom, wow, nuff said. go visit, buy pies and enjoy real old fashion pie making, now where did I put that pastie.
Wyvale Garden Centre (Huntingdon)
I preferred it when it was The Huntingdon Garden Centre and it was crap then. Far to expensive for the quality of which there is none, only parts worth visiting are Walter Smith (Butcher) real meat and goods, Costa, I always need caffeine & Maidenhead Aquatics, do love me fish.
So, unless you have absolutely nothing better to do, which I am sure you do, go visit or not.
Walter Smith (Butcher) Wyvale Garden Centre (Huntingdon)
As mentioned above this is a really great place to buy your fresh meat, veggies and even wine, I would recommend the following: Samosa's, Scotch eggs, Cornish Pasties, Lasagne and their 100% minced beef. The best butchers for miles.
Maidenhead Aquatics Huntingdon
I have kept fish for over 50 years, and know a few things now, up until recently I have to drive over 15 miles to get to a half decent aquatic shop, now I only have to travel about 10 minutes in the car to get to MHA Hunts.
Most of the real knowledgable guys have now moved on to better things, but there are a couple of good guys left. The shop has a wide range of dry and wet goods, and the fish are of a good quality, so go visit and start a great new hobby.
